Online Graduate Education in Top Ten for Five Straight Years
Albany, NY (January 26, 2021) – Today, U.S. News & World Report announced the University at Albany’s School of Education is once again ranked among the top ten in the nation for providing a high-quality, online graduate education. This is the fifth straight year that the School has been ranked in the top ten nationally and #1 in New York state and throughout New England. In a year like no other, the School of Education emerged as a leader to provide opportunities for many students to continue their pursuit of advanced credentials in education and mental health.

Ni receives funding to support K-12 schools in developing culturally relevant online courses
Albany, NY (September 29, 2020) - Lijun Ni, assistant professor of Educational Theory and Practice and an expert in computer science education, recently received funding from the National Science Foundation (NSF) to support K-12 teachers to develop effective remote delivery pedagogies and attract more diverse learners into computer science.

Ni Receives $1.5 million to Build Computer Science Capacity in K-12 Schools
Albany, NY (October 22, 2019) - Lijun Ni received two grants from the National Science Foundation (NSF) totaling more than $1.5 million to build capacity in K-12 schools to ensure that all students have an opportunity to learn computer science while in school. Ni, a faculty member in the Department of Educational Theory and Practice, will focus on building and enhancing professional learning communities of middle school and high school teachers to identify and scale best practices in teaching computer science.

(June 27, 2019) — Online education is becoming increasingly available and trusted by both employers and students, with many workers turning to it to advance their education and job prospects. Online courses, however, require self-regulation, and that often invites an impediment to learning success — procrastination.
