Alandeom W. Oliveira is a Professor in the Department of Educational Theory and Practice at the University at Albany, State University of New York.
With a PhD in Curriculum and Instruction (Science Education emphasis) from Indiana University, Dr. Oliveira is an internationally recognized scholar in science education, bilingual education and public communication of science.
His prolific research — spanning over 100 peer-reviewed publications — explores science teaching, language use in classrooms, student agency, and the intersections of science and society.
Dr. Oliveira has received numerous honors, including the Fulbright Specialist Award (Vietnam, 2023), the NARST Early Career Research Award, and the Distinguished Paper Award from Cultural Studies of Science Education.
He has co-edited multiple scholarly volumes and has led or co-led major federally funded research projects on STEM education and professional development.
His work is widely disseminated through international lectures, keynote addresses and active collaboration with scholars across North and South America, Asia, and Europe.
