About
Rachel Adams Goertel is the Director of Field Education for secondary education in the School of Education's Department of Educational Theory and Practice. Dr. Adams Goertel joined the University at Albany in 2025.
Rachel earned her doctorate in English Composition & TESOL and has served as Program Director of a MEd Childhood + SWD certification Hybrid Program and as a Director of TESOL Programs (K-12). Her research revolves around multicultural curriculum development, academic writing, and experiences of diverse learners. She has recent publications in Cambridge University Press and is involved in two current IRB research projects: language brokering and literacy practice of secondary ELA students. Rachel volunteers by delivering professional development training seminars to public school districts regarding the unique needs of English language learners in the classroom.
