About the Continuing Education Program

Location and Registration Confirmation

All programs are located at the UAlbany Downtown Campus unless otherwise noted. A confirmation email will be sent directly to you following a successful registration. An additional confirmation will be sent approximately one week prior to the program with parking pass and directions to the site.

Online Courses or Workshops

Online courses can be found here. Please note that there is a limitation of 12 online continuing education hours for Social Workers or Licensed Mental Health Counselors in a 36-month registration period, or one-third of the hours for a registration period other than 36 months, for self-study courses.

UAlbany Field Instructor Discount

Practitioners currently serving as field instructors for UAlbany BSW, MSW or LMHC students are eligible to receive CEUs at a 50% reduced fee. Field instructors are eligible for the discount only if they are currently supervising a student. Current field instructors receive a "promotion code" from the Field Office which must be entered on the registration in order to receive the discounted rate.

Program Completion Requirements

To receive continuing education contact hours (CEU's) for programs provided by the UAlbany SSW/SOE Continuing Education Program, you must arrive by the advertised starting time, and you must stay until the end of the program. Per the New York State Education Department, we are not able to provide credit for partial attendance.

Refunds and Cancellations

Cancellations received by e-mail at least one week prior to the course start date will be refunded minus a 20% administrative fee. Cancellations received after this time are not eligible for refund. We cannot transfer your registration to another class or another person. To request a refund, please contact [email protected]. It may take up to 4 weeks to receive your refund. The University reserves the right to cancel or modify any continuing education program. In the event that UAlbany SSW or SOE cancels an event, you will receive a FULL refund.

I would like to teach a continuing education workshop. Can I do it at SSW?

Please contact Linda Mertz, Director of CEU Program, at [email protected]. We may be able to accommodate you, however, at this time we are only accepting speakers and workshops that fit in with themes approved by the School of Social Welfare and/or School of Education.

My agency will pay for the training, but they need to give you a check. I don't see a way to do that.

Because of our record keeping, we need each registrant to complete the online registration process. If the agency does not have a credit card that can be used for your registration, contact Linda Mertz, Director of CEU Program, at [email protected]
