CTG UAlbany’s new faculty fellows program is designed to serve as a platform of intellectual exchange and an appreciation for interdisciplinary scholarship. CTG UAlbany, which works with governments worldwide transforming public services through innovations in technology, policy and management, has maintained a roster of research fellows since its founding nearly 30 years ago.

Innovate 518, a collaborative effort of incubators and accelerators from New York's Capital Region that is managed by UAlbany, has allocated its first round of Shovel Ready Tech Funding. This non-dilutive pre-seed grant will help local start-ups de-risk their companies and ultimately make their companies attractive to private investors.

With the goal of becoming the first university-based computer to reach a quintillion computations per second, Albany AI will empower university and industry researchers to harness massive data sets to better understand how to automate complex operations, and create teaching and research collaborations with faculty in all disciplines.

The University at Albany today began a new era of teaching and research with the launch of Albany AI, a $200 million public-private supercomputing initiative based out of UAlbany’s soon-to-be-renovated College of Engineering and Applied Sciences building. Buoyed by $75 million in state funding to complete the transformation of the former Albany High School into a state-of-the-art engineering college and fund the construction of a supercomputer, the Albany Artificial Intelligence Supercomputing Initiative (Albany AI) will significantly expand New York’s capacity in this major emerging field.

He recruited four undergraduate students, two at the School of Business and two at the College of Emergency Preparedness, Homeland Security and Cybersecurity, as interns this summer.

Associate Professor of Business Na Dai was recently selected by the U.S. Department of State as a Fulbright Distinguished Scholar. She will be taking her expertise in corporate finance, entrepreneurship and innovation to the University of Naples in Italy during the 2022-23 academic year.

After a two-year hiatus caused by the pandemic, the President’s Excellence Award ceremony returned with an in-person celebration.

English Professor Jeffrey Berman was recognized as the 2022 Torch Award Professor, along with three outstanding nominees: Associate Professor Rita Biswas, Lecturer Marcie Newton and Associate Professor Matthew Szdagis.
