Welcome to the UAlbany School of Business
Dean's Welcome
At the University at Albany’s School of Business, we are proud of many things. We are proud of attracting, retaining, and graduating talented students and proud of what they go on to do after graduation. We are proud of the engagement, generosity, and the persistent enthusiasm of our alumni. We are proud of our orientation as a research-intensive professional school where our faculty members are not only teaching the best practices but are also actively shaping them through their research recognized around the globe. We are proud of our dedicated staff like no other, where we practice the single point of contact approach for most student-related issues. We are also proud of our state-of-the-art building, recognized as one of the most beautiful public business school buildings in the country.
But what we are most proud of is the fact that, in all these years, we have never wavered from our core values. We have a simple motto – from opportunity to impact. We should serve as a gateway to opportunities for our students so that they can have a positive impact on our communities. We have kept that promise with every class we graduated over the last 60 years, and that motto continues to motivate all our actions. Each year we attract a class more diverse than the classes before. Each year our students rise higher to the occasion. Each year our alumni stand by us in more ways than in the previous years. And each year, our students leave a longer-lasting mark through their community engagement.
Today, we are a family of 110 faculty members, 20 staff members, 150 students who started this year as freshmen, 250 who joined us this year as juniors, 1,500 who are continuing with us, 2,500 who chose to minor with us, 450 graduate students, and 25,000 alumni. That I mention our alumni in the same breath as our students is no coincidence. Our alumni are passionate about the opportunities we can create for our students. Internships to scholarships, introductions to felicitations, mentoring to networking, our alumni have always stood by our students and continue to do so. No wonder we always say, once you join this family, you belong to the network that will last you from the classroom to the boardroom.
Recently we have made additional strides in support of student success. New majors such as Cybersecurity and Digital Forensics not only offer students unique areas of study but also prepare them for areas with an acute shortage of skilled professionals. We are proud of our distinctive dual accreditation, something fewer than five percent of business schools around the world, and only three in the state of New York can claim. We also carry the NSA Center of Excellence designation in both teaching and research.
On this website, you will find additional information on the variety of programs we offer and many stories of the success of our students, alumni, and faculty. Should you have any questions, you should not hesitate to reach one of us. If you are contemplating visiting us, I encourage you to connect with one of our ambassadors.
