Associate Professor of Computer Science Jeong-Hyon Hwang studies databases, distributed systems and real-time data analysis.

In 2012, Hwang was named a recipient of the National Sceince Foundation's highly competitive CAREER Award.

Hwang’s NSF CAREER award was used in the development of G* (G-Star), a system capable of compressing dynamic graph data based on commonalities among the graphs in the series for “deduplicated” storage on multiple servers.

Hwang received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Brown University in 2008. He earned a bachelor's degree (1998) and a master's degree (2000) in computer science and engineering from Korea University, as well as a bachelor's degree in mathematics education (1994) from Korea University.
