Life at the University at Albany

To truly enjoy and experience life on an American university campus, undergraduate students are required to live on campus for their first two years.

Residence halls on the Uptown and Downtown campuses are near classes and dining options, and provide a community where students can learn and study with other students in a safe and secure environment.

Transfer students may choose to live in off-campus apartments. They may also choose the Homestay living option, which means they live in the house of a local family. This allows students to improve their English and experience real American home life and culture.

Life in Albany, New York

Students get to experience all four seasons in Albany: The leaves change color in the autumn, snow falls in the winter, flowers bloom in the spring and the sun shines in the summer.

New York is world-famous for culture, business, entertainment, international diplomacy and world-class universities. Our campus is within reach of exceptional skiing, snowboarding and hiking in the Adirondacks, Catskills and Berkshires. New York City also hosts several of the world’s most-visited tourist attractions.

Many of our graduates find jobs right here in the Capital Region, which has vast opportunities in government, technology, business, healthcare and education.
