Please Note: Only the Governor of New York State can close state offices, agencies and campuses. When offices are open, employees are expected to report to work. However, liberal leave procedures are in effect. During emergencies, non-essential employees may request supervisory approval to charge their accruals when offices are open. Essential employees are to report in accordance with their schedule.
The campus community should always assume that classes will be held as scheduled unless otherwise notified by the University. Suspending classes is an extraordinary step and a decision the University takes very seriously because of the disruption that it causes to our academic calendar.
Students, faculty, and staff are always encouraged to exercise their best judgment in determining whether it is safe to travel to, and from campus, based on individual circumstances. Students not able to attend classes due to weather conditions must make accommodations with professors and instructors, while faculty and staff must make accommodations with their supervisors.
Snow or ice clearing concerns should be reported immediately to the Facilities Office Customer Service Center at (518) 442-3480. You can refer to snow clearing procedures here.
