Plan a Field Trip to Showcase Day

UAlbany invites Capital Region schools to attend its second annual Showcase Day. The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 30, 2024, on our Uptown Campus.

Visiting school groups should register as soon as possible. Attendance is limited and school group registration closes April 19, 2024.

School Group Testimonials from Showcase 2023

“Having a dedicated student guide was fantastic. It made navigating campus so much easier!”

“For some of our students it was the first time on a college campus and that in itself was invaluable.”

Navigating Showcase

Each school group will be assigned a Showcase Ambassador who will help you get around campus and identify activities of interest.

Additionally, chaperones can use an app to explore presentations, select those you’re most interested in attending and interact with other attendees.

UAlbany's Minerva Center for High Impact Learning offers guidance on reading a research poster and interacting with its author(s), which you may wish to share with your students ahead of your visit.

Arrival & Parking

Buses should drop students and chaperones off at the Broadview Center’s south entrance (on the Western Avenue side of the Uptown Campus). Buses may park in the lot adjacent to this entrance for the duration of their students’ visit.

UAlbany staff will be available at this entrance to greet your group and introduce your Showcase Ambassador, who will escort your group around campus and help your students get the most out of their visit.

Broadview Center and various other campus venues will host numerous student-led activities, exhibits, presentations and demonstrations on Showcase Day.

Broadview Center, in particular, will act as a hub for visiting school groups, with hands-on activities and presentations aimed at a school-aged audience.

Visit the Event Map & Shuttle Schedule page for more information.

Dining

Visiting school groups will have two options for lunch:

Option 1: Enjoy individual boxed lunches for students and chaperones provided by the University at Albany, free of charge.

Please email [email protected] with the type and quantity of lunches you would like. All orders should be emailed by April 19. Boxed lunch choices include:

  • Turkey, American cheese, lettuce and tomato on a hard roll
  • Ham, cheddar cheese, lettuce and tomato on a hard roll
  • Chicken Caesar wrap
  • Grilled veggie sandwich on a hard roll

Each sandwich comes with chips, an apple, a chocolate chip cookie, water, condiments and a silverware/napkin packet. A gluten-free variation of each option is available upon request.

Option 2: Bring your own lunches.

Enjoy lunch in the Broadview Center or find a location outside on campus where your group can gather for lunch together.

  • Backpacks and large tote bags are prohibited in Showcase venues.

  • All participants must adhere to the University’s Prohibited Items & Activities during Events policy. This policy includes a prohibition on weapons, as well as tobacco and smoking products.
