Important Financial Aid Update
for Less-than-full-time Students

Under new federal regulations effective July 1, 2026, students enrolled less than full time during the 2026-2027 Academic Year are subject to a Schedule of Reduction (SOR).

Less-than-full-time enrollment is defined as:

  • Undergraduate students: Fewer than 12 credit hours
  • Graduate students: Fewer than 9 credit hours

As a result, your annual Federal Direct Loan eligibility may be reduced. Federal Direct Loan limits are prorated and adjusted in direct proportion to the number of credit hours you are enrolled in compared to a full-time course load.

Our office is currently reviewing and processing these adjustments. During this time, you may experience a slight delay in the disbursement of your Federal Direct Loan funds.

We appreciate your patience as we implement these new federal requirements. If you have questions about how your enrollment status may affect your financial aid eligibility, please contact Financial Aid for assistance.
