Each year the School of Education proudly recognizes the accomplishments and successes of students and faculty with the SOE Awards and Scholarships Ceremony. This has been a special opportunity for faculty, students, families, friends, alumni, and donors to meet in one event, and it has become a perennial celebration of the larger community created by our scholarship in and dedication to education.

Professor Mitch Leventhal lead a discussion on “International Education Futures: A Speculative Discussion.”
On April 30th, Dr. Mitch Leventhal led a ZOOM brown bag discussion for Educational Policy & Leadership graduate students on International Education futures in response to COVID-19, providing recent trends in global student mobility and dynamics that higher education is currently facing. The discussion suggested America’s higher education sector needs to be flexible and imaginative in reinventing education experiences meaningful to domestic and international students for the post-COVID generation. Professor Aaron Benavot Gives Seminar to students on “Securing Educational Gains of the Past or Imagining Alternative Education Futures: Global Policy Perspectives.”
On April 23rd, Dr. Aaron Benavot led a ZOOM seminar for Educational Policy & Leadership graduate students on global education challenges emerging from the COVID-19 pandemic. He provided background information on past global progress in education as well as initial global responses to extensive school closures and the situation of school provision in two local settings: Peshawar, Pakistan and the Bahamas. Participants were asked to consider possibilities for bolstering current international policy agendas or creating new ones in a post-pandemic future. Dr.
