
RNA Institute Researchers Receive NIH Funding to Investigate Fatal Genetic Disorder
UAlbany scientists at the RNA Institute are seeking to understand the molecular mechanisms that drive disease. Kaalak Reddy’s team was recently awarded $420,000 from the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development to advance their work on a rare but fatal genetic disorder that affects the heart and brain.

UAlbany Celebrates College Tour, Campus Ballroom Reopening
UAlbany rolled out the purple carpet Thursday night for the world premiere of its episode of "The College Tour" and the grand reopening of the newly renovated Campus Center Ballroom. Students, faculty, staff and alumni filled the refreshed space — now complete with upgraded AV technology and a modern look — for a Hollywood-style celebration that included themed mocktails, a photo booth and a panel discussion with student stars from the episode.

2025 Mini WISC Workshop for Interaction and Scientific Communication
On Thursday, September 4, 2025, the UAlbany’s Department of Biological Sciences and the Life Sciences hosted the Mini Workshop for Interaction and Scientific Communication at the Life Sciences Research Building (LSRB) D’Ambra Auditorium. The event, which was organized by Dr. Malene Belfort and Dr. Paolo Forni, drew 106 participants that included graduate students, faculty, postdocs, and scientists from the UAlbany Departments of Biological Sciences, Chemistry, and Psychology, the College of Nanotechnology, Science and Engineering, the RNA Institute plus the Neural Stem Cell Institute, the New York State Department of Health, and the Department of Biomedical Sciences (BMS). This workshop was designed to promote collaboration and share ideas among scientists at different stages of their careers and across various disciplines.
