As the United States enters the final week of the 2020 Presidential election on Nov. 3, UAlbany faculty are closely following election-related issues and how they may impact the race for the Presidency.
Colleges, Schools and Offices Schedule Events Pre- and Post-Election
With Election Day less than a week away, the University is offering a host of informative panel discussions, a watch party and post-election events. UAlbany’s Rockefeller College of Public Affairs & Policy, in partnership with UAlbany Votes, has an election series entitled Your Vote Rocks, which features online, interactive discussions on a wide range of topics impacting the election.
Rockefeller Research Helps Block Naturalization Fee Increases
On September 29th, a federal judge enjoined the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), and officials serving in those agencies from enforcing a Final Rule that would have increased the naturalization fee from $725 to $1,160 on October 2nd. In his ruling, United Stated District Judge Jeffrey S. White cited Rockefeller College of Public Affairs & Policy Professor Rey Koslowski’s co-authored publication, "A Randomized Controlled Design Reveals Barriers to Citizenship for Low-Income Immigrants."
SUNY Student Assembly Elects Great Danes into Leadership
Rockefeller College alum Bradley Hershenson and first-year graduate student Eusebio Omar van Reenan have been elected as SUNY Student Assembly president and vice president, respectively, for 2020-21.
Your Vote Rocks Election Series

Dean Rethemeyer Named Again to Education Power 50
For the second straight year, Rockefeller College Dean R. Karl Rethemeyer has been named to City & State’s Education Power 50. In addition, University at Albany President Havidán Rodríguez also made a second appearance, while Rockefeller College alumnus and SUNY Chancellor Jim Malatras headed the list.
