Rockefeller Improves to 23rd in US News Rankings

ALBANY, N.Y. (March 29, 2022) — The University at Albany’s Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy has once again been recognized as the highest ranked public affairs college in the Northeast region among public universities, announced in the 2023 U.S. News & World Report Best Public Affairs Schools rankings. Overall, Rockefeller College ranks 23rd in the nation, as well in the top-25 nationally for six public affairs specialties:

  • 5th in Information and Technology Management
  • 9th in Homeland Security and Emergency Management 
  • 14th in Nonprofit Management 
  • 16th in Public Management and Leadership
  • 20th in Public Finance and Budgeting 
  • 22nd in Local Government Management

The Best Public Affairs Schools rankings are based solely on surveys of deans, directors and department chairs representing 270 master’s programs in public affairs and administration. Rockefeller College has been recognized continually as one of the nation’s premier schools of public affairs since the inception of the U.S. News rankings 27 years ago. 

Rockefeller College offers undergraduate- and graduate-level study in public administration, public policy, political science, international affairs, and criminal justice. The Centers and Institutes that are part of Rockefeller College conduct state-of-the-art research and policy analysis, improve the knowledge and skills of employees in public and nonprofit agencies through professional development, and work with government at all levels in the United States and abroad to strengthen democracy and promote effective governing. 

Established in 1947, Rockefeller has been educating the leaders who shape the public policies of the future for 75 years. The College will be celebrating its 75th anniversary with a series of events in 2022, including a gala on September 30th.
