Senior Kaya Rifenberg-Stempel Named Albany Tulip Queen
On Saturday, July 18th, Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan introduced the 2020 Albany Tulip Queen and her four court members at a press conference in Washington Park. There, Rockefeller College senior Kaya Rifenberg-Stempel was chosen as the 72nd Albany Tulip Queen. Throughout the next year, she will work with her four court members on community service and literacy advocacy initiatives.
CTG UAlbany Examines Megacity Smartness
CTG UAlbany researchers J. Ramon Gil-Garcia, Theresa Pardo and Manuel De Tuya recently completed an examination of the information sharing capabilities of two North American megacities, Mexico City and New York. Their paper, published in Urban Affairs Review, found that these metropolises share unique characteristics that helped them improve their smart city capabilities where smaller cities or larger state governments might face challenges.
Rockefeller Institute Researchers Win National Award
Rockefeller Institute Fellows Patricia Strach, Katie Zuber, and Elizabeth Pérez-Chiqués were recognized by the American Political Science Association for increasing understanding of the opioid epidemic. The Outstanding Public Engagement in Health Policy Award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated leadership in improving health and the health care system through active engagement in politics and policy making.
