What is a degree application? 

UAlbany students must apply for graduation in order to receive a diploma or certificate. If you will complete all your degree or certificate requirements by the end of this semester, you must submit an online degree application

Before applying for graduation, please check the personal information you have on file with UAlbany to ensure it is correct. 

  • Address: Diplomas and certificates are mailed to the permanent address you have on record with UAlbany at the time of your graduation, unless you’ve designated a degree address where you’d like your diploma mailed. You can update your permanent and degree addresses in MyUAlbany
     
  • Name: The name printed on the document(s) will default to the name appearing in University records. You will be able to update your degree name and choose whether to include your middle name or middle initial but to update your legal first or last name on your diploma, you must complete and submit the Personal Identification Change Form, which requires two valid forms of identification. Spring 2022 Degree Application

Spring 2022 online degree applications open on January 2, 2022. 

  • Undergraduate students’ online degree applications are due by February 18, 2022.  

  • Graduate students’ online degree applications are due by March 18, 2022

Late degree applications will be accepted online through May 11, 2022. 

Note: Graduate students must also complete the electronic submission of dissertation or thesis by May 1, 2022.

Summer 2022 Degree Application

Summer 2022 online degree applications open on April 15, 2022, and are due by August 12, 2022

Note: Graduate students must also complete the electronic submission of dissertation or thesis by August 1, 2022.

The Registrar’s Office reviews all undergraduate degree applications and notifies undergraduate students of their graduation status via email. If you are missing any degree requirements, you will receive an email asking you to review details in the EAB: Advising & Student Success portal
