Healthy Conversations: Student Podcast Releases Episode 3
Healthy Conversations is a podcast produced by a team of UAlbany School of Public Health students and alumni. The podcast includes discussions of timely public health topics, and interviews experts in the field. Recently, the team released Episode 3, entitled “A Conversation on Careers in the Field of STIs". Impacts of the First Year of COVID-19 on Food Security in New York’s Capital Region
ALBANY, N.Y. (September 21, 2021) – Research from PhD student Mariana Torres, DrPH student Hnin Wai Lwin Myo, and Associate Professor Beth Feingold recently found that overall household food security in New York’s Capital Region decreased in the first year of the pandemic for all income groups examined, but those who were already vulnerable before the Covid-19 pandemic were most affected.

Meet CJ Gil: CDPHP Scholar
ALBANY, N.Y. (September 18, 2021)- CJ Gil, CDPHP Scholar and MPH student, is a second generation UAlbany MPH student. After being awarded the CDPHP scholarship, Gil has been involved with opportunities through the New York State Council on Children and Families as well as the New York State Department Of Health (NYSDOH). He aspires to influence policies that aim to minimize statewide health equity gaps.

Meet Jean Perry: Covid-19 Case Investigator
Jean Perry, MPH ‘20, works for the state of Georgia as a Covid-19 Case Investigator at the Coastal Health District office in Savannah—the location where she previously completed an internship for her academic program. As a Case Investigator, Perry speaks with people who test positive for Covid-19 to gather more information (such as symptoms, preexisting conditions, and activity) and to obtain close contacts to share with contact tracers for follow up.
