Norman E. Snyder '83 is a man who knows his drinks — and he should. As a leader with more than twenty-five years of experience in the beverage industry, Snyder has brought to market all manner of libations from craft brews to caffeinated waters to highly sought-after soft drinks. Currently, Snyder is CEO of Reed's Inc., makers of the favorite all-natural ginger beer in America and Virgil's — the company's line of handcrafted sodas. 

Matthew Crayne, associate professor of management in the Massry School of Business, and Samantha Penta, assistant professor of emergency preparedness in the College of Emergency Preparedness, Homeland Security and Cybersecurity, are working to uncover the most effective strategies for helping schools in their long-term recovery after a threat. Their study, funded by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), examines school disaster responses across the United States, examining the differences in approaches to rebuilding infrastructure, restoring learning environments and supporting the long-term well-being of students and staff.

Nearly 5,000 students celebrated their graduation from the University at Albany, which hosted its 181st commencement festivities from Thursday, May 15, through Sunday, May 18. Among the graduates were an estimated 3,000 undergraduates and 1,900 graduate students, including recipients who completed their degrees last summer and fall as well as over the winter. UAlbany held a series of commencement events for the Class of 2025 throughout the week, highlighted by individual stage crossings and the University-wide outdoor undergraduate ceremony.

In the weeks leading to commencement, Massry took a moment to celebrate the school’s highest achievers at the Second Annual Student Achievement Awards. This ceremony highlighted student accomplishments, academic excellence, leadership, and innovation within the Massry community.

Massry students got an inside look at investment banking when alum Brad Coleman returned to campus as an Executive in Residence. Coleman shared career lessons, MBA insights, and answered student questions about his career and breaking into finance.

Massry School of Business Associate Professor Matthew Crayne has been named as one of the State University of New York’s inaugural recipients of the Chancellor’s Horizon Award for Faculty Research and Scholarship. The awards support early-career faculty research and scholarly achievements across SUNY’s colleges and universities.

Distinguished Professor is the highest academic rank in the State University of New York, conferred solely by the SUNY Board of Trustees.

The event featured poster displays, oral presentations, demonstrations, panel discussions, recitals, art exhibitions and performances that reflect new and original exploration of topics in STEM, arts and humanities, social sciences and the professions.
