UAlbany Engineering Building to Anchor New Artificial Intelligence Supercomputing Initiative
The University at Albany today began a new era of teaching and research with the launch of Albany AI, a $200 million public-private supercomputing initiative based out of UAlbany’s soon-to-be-renovated College of Engineering and Applied Sciences building. Buoyed by $75 million in state funding to complete the transformation of the former Albany High School into a state-of-the-art engineering college and fund the construction of a supercomputer, the Albany Artificial Intelligence Supercomputing Initiative (Albany AI) will significantly expand New York’s capacity in this major emerging field.

Hailey Khatchatourian, BA '22 is this year's School of Criminal Justice Valedictorian. She served as an undergraduate student committee member on the Independent Review Committee for the University Police Department, and will be enrolling in George Mason University’s Criminology, Law, and Society Doctoral Program.

Policing Crisis Conference
On May 20-21, the University at Albany’s Rockefeller College of Public Affairs & Policy will host the interdisciplinary “Policing Crisis Conference” in person on UAlbany's Downtown Campus. How governments approach enforcing their laws and policies has been the subject of increasing political and social contention locally, nationally, and internationally. This conference adopts a broad approach for understanding “policing crisis” that includes not only military intervention and law enforcement, but the state’s punitive management of social crises, including poverty, mental illness, and violence. The conference is open to the entire UAlbany campus community free of charge.
Remembering Fred Cohen
We are saddened to report that Professor Emeritus Fred Cohen, a founding faculty member of the School of Criminal Justice, passed away at his home in Tucson, Arizona on March 30.
