ALBANY, N.Y. — The University at Albany’s Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy has once again been recognized as a national leader among public affairs colleges by U.S. News & World Report. In the latest U.S. News & World Report Best Public Affairs Schools rankings, Rockefeller College ranks 26th in the nation overall, as well in the top-25 nationally for five public affairs specialties:

  • 5th in Information and Technology
  • 7th in Homeland Security
  • 17th in Public Management & Leadership
  • 18th in Local Government Management
  • 21st in Nonprofit Management

“It’s wonderful to see this external recognition for the great work taking place in Rockefeller College,” said Dean Julie Novkov. “Our peers see how our faculty’s critical insights make sense of a rapidly changing world of public affairs and provide guidance for positive interventions. We also appreciate the acknowledgement that we continue to produce outstanding graduates who will lead us into the future with their substantive expertise and their commitment to serving the public good, no matter where they go.”

The rankings of public affairs programs, published in 2024, are based solely on peer assessment survey results. In fall 2023 and early 2024, U.S. News surveyed deans, directors and department chairs representing 271 master's programs in public affairs and administration. Two surveys were sent to each school and there was a response rate of 65.2%.
