Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events

  • Target Audience: Open to all UAlbany employees including SUNY RF & PDP

Join UAlbany’s own University Police Department certified instructors for the Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE) program.  CRASE teaches students, faculty and staff: "Run, Hide, Fight" steps to take in an active shooter situation; situational awareness; mental scripting; looking for warning signs of potentially aggressive behavior; what to expect when police, EMS and other first responders arrive; and how you can help police and other first responders.

On average, 41% of college students experience food insecurity and 33% have missed a job interview because they don’t have appropriate clothes. Students and employees have access to support services such as the Purple Pantry so no Great Dane goes hungry. The SUNY Center for Professional Development (CPD) offers an incredible array of learning opportunities. 

As part of UAlbany’s commitment to provide all employees with access to high quality training and development, HR is pleased to share a streamlined UAlbany CPD General Points Procedure to financially support professional development opportunities through SUNY CPD. 

Using CPD General Points, UAlbany employees can access a wide range of learning experiences — such as webinars, workshops, and certificate programs — that support skill-building, knowledge enhancement and career growth.

Eligibility: All full-time and part-time New York State employees at UAlbany are eligible to apply, provided they meet employment criteria at the time of application, during the activity and upon completion.

Additional Events

Annual Compliance Trainings

UAlbany Compliance Series on Mandated Topics (Due annually March 31)

Upon hire, and annually thereafter, UAlbany’s professional and classified employees are required to complete several online training courses on compliance, safety and other state-mandated topics. 

Details and deadlines are sent to employees via email each year. Annual trainings are launched in the fall semester each year.

To complete the trainings, please sign into Skillsoft Precipio.

New York State's Ethics Training (Due annually December 31)

All State employees at UAlbany must complete New York State's Ethics training: 

  • Within 90 days of their start date
  • Annually thereafter 

Employees alternate between two versions of the Ethics training:

  • Live Comprehensive Ethics Training Course (hereafter referred to as “Live”): A 1-1.5 hour instructor led virtual session of the most current New York State Ethics laws and regulations. Register for the live offerings on the HR Training & Development website or directly on the Commissions website.
  • On-Demand Ethics Training Course (hereafter referred to as “On-Demand”): A 45-minute refresher of key New York State Ethics information. Complete this training through Skillsoft Precipio.
