UAlbany 2023 GIS Day is November 15
Join the Department of Geography & Planning, Geography & Planning Student Association (under sponsorship of UAlbany's University Auxiliary Services) as we celebrate Geospatial Technologies—GIS— that help us make better decisions for the sustainability of our environment and society. GIS Day will feature GIS Exhibitions, a career panel, a resume clinic and the chance to be connected to internship opportunities. It will be held on campus at the Lecture Center Concourse East (next to Lecture Center 10) on Wednesday, November 15.

$5 Million USDA Grant Featured in Times Union, Spectrum and WAMC
Researchers in the University at Albany’s Department of Geography and Planning at the College of Arts and Sciences are receiving $5 million from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to support a new project, Urban Climate Adaptation of Forest Ecosystems with Disadvantaged Communities and Youth in Albany, New York (Urban CAFÉ DAY). The project is gaining attention as it aims to improve the health of Albany’s urban forest and educate the next generation of local climate leaders.

UAlbany Researchers Awarded $5 Million by U.S. Department of Agriculture to Improve Local Urban Forestry
The project is part of a $1 billion investment from the USDA’s Forest Service to expand access to trees and green spaces in communities and neighborhoods nationwide.
