Economics Faculty Participate in Empire AI Visiting/Affiliated Faculty Convenings
Professor Chun-Yu Ho and Professor Ben Griffy were invited to serve as Visiting/Affiliated Faculty at the University at Albany’s AI & Society College for two faculty convenings held during Summer 2026. The convenings are part of the Empire AI SUNY Campus Partnerships, a statewide initiative designed to expand artificial intelligence education, research, and professional development opportunities across SUNY institutions.
As participants in the Visiting/Affiliated Faculty Program, Ho and Griffy joined faculty colleagues from the University at Albany, SUNY Oneonta, SUNY Cobleskill, and Hudson Valley Community College. The program supports collaboration across campuses to develop AI-infused curricula, microcredentials, courses, and instructional materials that broaden interdisciplinary learning opportunities for students.
The summer convenings provided opportunities for faculty to connect, collaborate, and share proposals for co-developed AI-enhanced curriculum and learning experiences. Through workshops and cross-campus discussions, participants explored ways to integrate AI into teaching while addressing the technology’s broader societal, ethical, and policy implications—core priorities of UAlbany’s AI & Society College and the Empire AI initiative.
Their participation highlights the Department’s growing engagement with emerging AI-related scholarship and pedagogy, while strengthening collaborative ties with faculty across the SUNY system. The convenings represent an important step toward creating innovative educational opportunities that prepare students to engage thoughtfully and effectively with AI in their academic and professional careers.
