Professor Cuicui Chen's work with Professor Jose Miguel Abito at the University of Pennsylvania won the 3rd EmPOWER Air Data Challenge held by the Environmental Protection Agency. Professor Chen's project will use CAMD’s Power Sector Emissions Data as well as allowance data from CAMD to evaluate how the availability of market information affects the efficiency of environmental markets using the Acid Rain Program as a case study.

Jack August McEachern has been selected as a recipient of the Situation Prize for Research - Community, Cause and Advocacy with an award of $500. Following is a summary of his award winning research project: "Under the supervision of Jennifer Dodge, Associate Professor at Rockefeller College, I have been exploring how to integrate theories of justice into material action. My theory work focuses on the Green New Deal and the limitations it has as a policy framework. The Green New Deal claims to deliver environmental justice through social-democratic policy. However, with the rise of racial protests in the US, I began to doubt this sweeping claim.

Professor Cuicui Chen has been nominated for the 2021 Torch Faculty/Student Engagement Award. The nomination is made by graduating seniors to recognize a faculty member who has had a positive and significant impact on their academic and personal success. A nominating student wrote: "...She dedicates her time to not only upload every lecture and study materials on time, but she also shows her true passion in teaching environmental economics in her lecture videos. She also engages with her students while she's not preparing lectures, by creating scheduled Zoom meetings to make sure we are on the right track for our group projects and a separate Zoom meeting after class for general questions about what we learned in our lecture.
