Won Sung Receives Conference Travel Support From Graduate Student Employees Union
Won Sung, who is expected to finish his PhD degree in May 2022, is receiving financial support for his conference presentation from the Graduate Student Employees Union (GSEU). He plans to present his research at the 20th International Industrial Organization Conference held in Boston in May 2022.
Cassidy Bowes wins Presidential Award for Undergraduate Research
Cassidy Bowes has been selected as a recipient of the 2021-2022 Presidential Award for Undergraduate Research at the University at Albany for her research project titled, “Gender differences in labor market outcomes during the COVID-19 pandemic" under the supervision of Professor Pinka Chatterji.

A study led by a UAlbany economist reveals that workers who use science, technology, engineering and mathematics knowledge on the job had a much easier time retaining and acquiring jobs during the COVID-19 recession.
Study: Incentives Key to Driving Transition to Mobile Payments
University at Albany Assistant Professor of Economics Chun-Yu Ho has recently led a study examining the adoption of mobile payments. Publishing in Management Science, Ho and his colleagues found that consumers are more likely to use mobile payment methods when they receive price incentives for doing so.
Anne Case Named Distinguished Fellow of American Economic Association
Anne Case received the American Economic Association Distinguished Fellow award for 2021. Case is the Alexander Stewart 1886 Professor of Economics and Public Affairs at Princeton University, and received her BA in Economics from the University at Albany in 1980. Trained as a labor economist, Case has made seminal contributions in the fields of health, development, and labor economics, with scholarship that has garnered wide recognition across sciences and social sciences alike and sparked public conversation around the negative impacts of rising socio-economic inequality in the U.S. Read more about Anne Case's academic contributions

Economists Win WISH/Project SAGES Seed Proposal Award
A research project by Professor Cuicui Chen, Professor Daiqiang Zhang and PhD candidate Chunyu Guo won the WISH/Project SAGES Seed Proposal Award. Their research project is entitled as "Distributional Impacts of Electrifying the Trucking Industry." The project aims to identify charging infrastructure designs under which truck electrification improves environmental justice and to quantify the role of charging infrastructure in mediating the distributional impacts of electric trucks.
Jayanta Talukder receives the Benevolent Association Research Grant
Economics doctoral student Jayanta Talukder has been selected as a Fall 2021 Benevolent Association Research and Creative Activity Grant recipient. His research project is titled "Reverse Migration and Occupational Choice: Evidence from COVID-induced Lockdown in India." The research aims to quantify migrant hardship as a result of the second COVID wave in 2021 in India and its effect on future migration decisions.
