The CEHC Student Ambassadors program empowers students to represent the University at Albany's College of Emergency Preparedness, Homeland Security and Cybersecurity (CEHC) through outreach, mentorship and community engagement.
 

Student Ambassadors

CEHC Student Ambassadors are a diverse group of undergraduate and graduate students dedicated to sharing their experiences and knowledge of CEHC’s unique blend of academic programs in technology, security and preparedness—encouraging others to explore the exciting opportunities CEHC has to offer.

Ambassadors connect with prospective students, K–12 schools and community organizations to showcase CEHC’s innovative programs. Through engaging presentations, interactive workshops, tours and immersive campus experiences, they spark interest in fields such as game design, cybersecurity, emergency management, law enforcement, information science and more—building pathways toward academic and professional success.

Whether supporting recruitment, mentoring peers or giving back to the community, CEHC Ambassadors play a vital role in creating connections and inspiring the next generation of changemakers.

Programs

The CEHC Ambassadors have developed dynamic educational outreach programs encompassing a wide range of topics. Through engaging presentations and hands-on activities, they explore themes such as technology, gaming, data analysis, security/safety, emergency management, information science and cybersecurity—designed to educate audiences of all ages and backgrounds.

All programs are offered free of charge, with only minimal costs for consumable materials when necessary.
 

3D Printing in Action

Watch ideas come to life! Our 3D printing lesson and demo introduces students to the world of digital design and additive manufacturing. From seeing a 3D printer in action to exploring how everyday objects are created, students gain hands-on insight into creativity, problem-solving and the future of technology.
 

Biometrics

Join Owen McShane for an engaging presentation on the world of biometrics—where technology meets identity. Students will explore how fingerprinting, facial recognition and other biometric tools are used in security, law enforcement and everyday life, while also considering the ethical and privacy questions these technologies raise.
 

Button Making

Design it, press it, wear it! Students create custom buttons to showcase their creativity and personal style while learning how simple design tools can turn ideas into take-home keepsakes.

Cricut Lesson and Demo

Unleash creativity through hands-on design! With our Cricut cutter, mug press and shirt press, students explore how digital design transforms into personalized products they can take home. From cutting vinyl designs to pressing custom mugs and T-shirts, these activities blend artistry and technology while sparking imagination, problem-solving and maker skills. 
 

Drones (UAVs)/Robotics on the Road

Drones & Robotics on the Road brings hands-on STEM learning to you! Students experience the thrill of flying drones and exploring robotics—all while building teamwork, problem-solving and tech skills for the future.
 

ETEC Facility Tours

Discover innovation in action at UAlbany’s state-of-the-art ETEC building—home to the College of Emergency Preparedness, Homeland Security and Cybersecurity (CEHC). Students and community groups can explore collaborative classrooms, high-tech labs, makerspaces and research hubs that showcase the future of learning, technology and discovery.
 

Gaming Lesson Plan and Demo

Step into the world of game creation! In this interactive session, students learn how games are planned, designed and developed—then experience a live demo to see those ideas in action. From concept to play, this activity sparks creativity, critical thinking and a deeper understanding of the gaming industry.

Lego Robotics

Build, code and bring robots to life! With LEGO Mindstorms and SPIKE kits, students design and program their own robotic creations, combining engineering, problem-solving and creativity in fun, hands-on challenges.Makerspace on the Move

Bring ideas to life with Makeblock! Students design, build and program robots using modular parts and coding tools, gaining hands-on experience in engineering, problem-solving and creativity through fun and interactive challenges.
 

Makerspace on the Move 

Bring the excitement of UAlbany’s CEHC Makerspace directly to your school or library! Makerspace on the Move delivers hands-on, interactive experiences in 3D printing, drones, robotics, virtual reality and more—right to your students. Our mobile program makes it easy to spark creativity, teamwork and innovation while introducing learners to real-world technologies and future career paths.


Makey/Makey Lesson and Demo

Turn everyday objects into touchpads! With Makey Makey, students explore creativity and coding by transforming bananas, foil or even pencil drawings into interactive controllers. It’s a fun and engaging way to connect the physical world with digital invention.

Take control of the future with robotics! From programming Sphero and navigating RVRs to exploring advanced RoboMasters, students gain hands-on experience in coding, problem-solving and engineering. Snap Circuits

Explore the power of electricity—no soldering required! With Snap Circuits, students snap together colorful components to build working models of real electronic devices, learning STEM concepts through hands-on discovery and play.
 

Turning Tumble Lesson and Demo

Discover how computers think—without a screen! Using marbles, ramps and switches, students build mechanical computers that solve puzzles and perform logic. Turing Tumble makes abstract coding and problem-solving concepts tangible, fun and engaging for all ages.
