
Connecting in Isolation
As we self-quarantined, the unusual became usual. We began peering at each other in tiny squares on computer screens instead of face-to-face. We stayed in our houses, worried about friends and family, and wondered when the pandemic would end.
Faculty and staff had the additional responsibility of maintaining student attention and connection through that same screen. It was not easy, but as they plunged in, they found new ways to connect and support their students.

Capital Region Semifinals of the NY Business Plan Competition
The room was booked, the judges recruited and the food ordered when the pandemic hit New York. When the Capital Region Semi Finals of the New York State Business Competition transitioned online, students refocused their efforts to create virtual presentations to wow the judges.

MBA Students Help Local Business, Taking Third in National Competition
An MBA team placed third in the Small Business School Challenge, a 48-hour competition where student teams were paired with local small businesses to find creative ways to get through the financial hardships caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
More than 450 MBA students from 11 business schools nationwide participated, including Yale, NYU, UCLA and Carnegie-Melon. UAlbany had 35 students on 11 teams, working with restaurants, bakeries, stores and organizations primarily in the Albany-Schenectady-Troy area.

EY Expands Their UAlbany Legacy
Big Four accounting firm EY is one of the top employers of School of Business students and a steadfast contributor to student success. EY has requested that up to $25,000 from an existing gift be used to provide a dollar for dollar match for new donations to the UAlbany Student Emergency Fund.
