About

Sharon Hope is an Instructional Designer at the University of Albany. Additionally, she is an adjunct instructor in the First Year Experience Program and Sociology Department. She supports using open educational resources and is a coordinator for the Collaborative Online International Learning program. Sharon believes the interactions with faculty and students should occur in a safe place where engaging discussions are encouraged and new understandings and points of view are voiced and celebrated.

Sharon has over 2­­­­0 years of higher education experience, including both teaching and administrative positions. In addition to teaching, She has worked with faculty and graduate students on course design and development to ensure the use of best practices in pedagogy and technology. Before joining the University at Albany, Sharon was a professor at Maria College. Additionally, she served as the academic Program Chair and Director of Online Learning for 11 years.

Sharon holds an Ed.D. from Walden University. Her research interests include student engagement and retention and faculty development. She also holds an M.S. degree in Educational Psychology and a B.S. in Business Management from the College of St. Rose.
