Emmanuel Udoh

Dr. Emmanuel Udoh is a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Information Systems and Business Analytics department at the Massry School of Business, and a Faculty Fellow at the Center for Technology in Government (CTG), Albany. Trained in computer science, information science, informatics, philosophy and theology, he also holds a Professional Certificate in Data Science and Big Data Analytics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Dr. Udoh’s research interests are at the intersection of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Data Science, the Internet of Things (IoT) and Ethics. His expertise is in algorethics, or the value-sensitive design of AI/ML/IoT technologies in general, and algorithmic decision systems as implemented online and in public sector domains. Within the Responsible and Trustworthy AI/ML research space, his recent and current works focus on algorithmic justice issues, particularly FATES (fairness, accountability, transparency, ethics, safety and security) issues, models and practices in algorithmic (or predictive) policing systems, criminal justice, online information access, and healthcare diagnostics, as well as the potential role of AI in public sector reform initiatives.

Dr. Udoh also brings along a wealth of experience teaching courses across computer science, information science and data science, as well as prior experience as a public administrator, a webmaster and technology consultant.
