Governor Hochul Announces $50 Million Capital Investment to Expand UAlbany’s RNA Institute
The funding, which was included in SUNY’s enacted 2025-2026 capital budget, will increase capacity at the Life Sciences Research Building to advance the RNA Institute’s world-class research, training and workforce development, including its work using artificial intelligence to guide innovative approaches to drug discovery.
Dr. Cécilia Légaré postdoctoral fellow at the Berglund lab receives 2025 MDF Research Fellowship
Dr. Cécilia Légaré, a postdoctoral fellow in the Berglund Lab at the University at Albany and the Duchesne Lab at Laval University, has been awarded the 2025 MDF Research Fellowship for her project titled “Identification of a Transcriptomic Signature in Myotonic Dystrophy Type 1.”
Dr. Subodh Mishra awarded 2025 MDA Development Grant
Dr. Subodh Mishra, research scientist of the Berglund lab at UAlbany, received the 2025 MDA Development Grant for his project “The mechanism, synergies, and therapeutic horizon of quercetin in DM and C9-ALS”.

Professor Georges Belfort awarded 2025 Gordon prize
Professor Georges Belfort of the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at RPI has been awarded the 2025 Bernard M. Gordon Prize for Innovation in Engineering and Technology Education from the National Academy of Engineering. He shares the prize with his collaborator Professor Steven Cramer, also from RPI.
