EPL Alumni and Faculty Partner in Sponsoring Event Supporting Effective Educational Leaders

Albany, NY (May 1) - EPL alumni Dr. Shireen Fasciglione and Dr. Shelly Baldwin-Nye collaborated with Dr. Kathryn Schiller, Associate Professor in Education Policy and Leadership in an initiative to promote leadership growth in K-12 schools.

As a UAlbany alumna and an educational leader, having the opportunity to create professional collaborations with UAlbany faculty has provided me with a renewed connection to the University as well as continued appreciation for the innovative and inspirational spirit of the UAlbany community. Dr. Todd Whitaker, a leading national expert in school leadership effectiveness, led the morning conference with a keynote on “What Great Principals and School Leaders Do Differently.” Todd has deep expertise on staff motivation, leadership, and principal effectiveness with not only practicing and aspiring school leaders, but also those who work with and train them. He is the author of over 50 books, including national best sellers What Great Principals Do Differently and Motivating and Inspiring Teachers.

The workshop was co-sponsored by the School of Education, the Empire State Supervisors and Administrators Association, and the Capital Area School Development Association. The group hopes that this event will be the first in a series of efforts to strengthen our connections to education leaders throughout the state.
