Two Economics PhD Graduates Receive Distinguished Doctoral Dissertation Awards
The Department of Economics is proud to announce that two recent PhD graduates, Jiahao Lin and Quan Qi, have been selected as recipients of the University at Albany’s 2025–2026 Distinguished Doctoral Dissertation Award. Receiving two dissertation awards in the same year is an exceptional accomplishment for the department and reflects the strength and excellence of the Economics PhD program.
Quan Qi, who graduated in Spring 2025, completed his dissertation, Essays on Health Economics, under the supervision of Professor Chatterji and Professor Ho. Her research examines important topics in health economics and public policy.
Jiahao Lin, who graduated in Fall 2025, wrote his dissertation on Essays on Robust Inference under Multiway Clustering under the supervision of Professor Hounyo. His work makes important contributions to econometric methodology and statistical inference.
These honors reflect years of sustained hard work, perseverance, intellectual curiosity, and dedication to academic excellence. The achievements of Jiahao and Quan highlight the strong research culture of the department and the commitment of faculty mentors who support students throughout their doctoral studies.
