Transfer Evaluation System (TES)

What is the Transfer Evaluation System (TES)?

The Transfer Evaluation System (TES) is the University at Albany’s centralized platform for reviewing, documenting and managing transfer course equivalencies.

TES supports a consistent, transparent and efficient process for evaluating transfer coursework and provides timely, accurate information to students, advisors, faculty and staff.

TES replaces the former process of submitting equivalency updates via email and allows academic departments to take a more proactive role in managing transfer equivalencies.

Approved equivalencies are published through the University’s public-facing Transfer Course Equivalency Portal, supporting student planning and advising.

The Office of Undergraduate Education, in partnership with the Registrar’s Office, facilitates the equivalency review process in TES to ensure alignment with University-wide academic policy, consistency across departments and appropriate final processing.

Who uses TES?

TES is designed to support faculty and staff who are involved in advising, curriculum review and academic planning for transfer students.

Primary TES users include:

  • TES Departmental Managers: Faculty or staff designated by the department to manage transfer equivalency requests and coordinate departmental workflows within TES
  • View-only Users: Faculty and staff who need access to review existing equivalencies, institutional information and course details for advising, curricular context or informational purposes

Departmental access has been assigned based on feedback from Department Chairs to ensure appropriate academic oversight and continuity of review.

Request access to TES

Faculty and staff who do not currently have access may request view-only access to TES.

You may also request an update to your access level in the following circumstances:

  • If you will be replacing an existing Department Chair or TES Departmental Manager
  • If your department determines that they need additional users to support equivalency review or workflow management, following consultation with the Office of Undergraduate Education and/or the Registrar’s Office

All access requests are reviewed to ensure appropriate role assignment, based on departmental needs and business purposes.

Newly added users will receive additional information to help them access and navigate TES.
