Purchase a Parking Permit
All students and employees must register any vehicle they park on a University at Albany campus and adhere to parking rules and regulations.
To ensure visitor parking remains available, UAlbany students, employees, and affiliates are not authorized to park in visitor lots even with fee validation.
Additionally, parking is never authorized in Reserved, Special Permit, University Vehicle, or Accessible spaces unless proper credentials are registered and/or displayed.

- In-person Request: Visit Parking Services from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Please have your temporary vehicle's information on hand when you arrive.
You must have a valid UAlbany parking permit to apply for a temporary permit.
Temporary passes are available for one or seven calendar days, with a maximum limit of 19 calendar days. If your need exceeds 19 days, please email [email protected] for further assistance.
Updating a Registered Vehicle
If you permanently change your vehicle(s) or license plate(s) within the same registration year, please use one of the following options at no charge:
- Online Request: Complete the Vehicle Registration Form.
- In-person Request: Visit Parking Services from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. (Parking Services is located at the corner of University Drive West and Tricentennial Drive East on the Uptown Campus. View campus maps.)
Adding a Vehicle to Your Registered Account

(Parking Services is located at the corner of University Drive West and Tricentennial Drive East on the Uptown Campus. View campus maps.) We apologize but this process cannot be completed online.
A vehicle registration fee is required for each additional vehicle added to your account. Registering multiple vehicles allows flexibility, but only one vehicle may be parked at the University at a time.
Accessible Parking for Faculty, Staff, and Students
Accessible parking is available to students, faculty and staff members who have both a valid UAlbany parking permit and a license plate or valid placard displaying the Universal Symbol of Access.
If you meet these requirements, you can park in any designated student, faculty, staff, accessible or special permit area, excluding visitor lots. Review accessibility maps of our campuses.
Vehicles parked in accessible spaces without a license plate or valid placard displaying the Universal Symbol of Access or a valid University vehicle registration will be ticketed.
For information on how to obtain a license plate or valid placard displaying the Universal Symbol of Access, please visit the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles website.
Temporary Parking Accommodations for Students
Students who do not have a license plate or valid placard displaying the Universal Symbol of Access but may need a temporary accommodation must contact Disability Access and Inclusion Student Services (DAISS) before contacting Parking and Mass Transit Services.
Parking and Mass Transit Services cannot accept or review medical documentation.
Temporary Parking Accommodations for Employees
Employees who do not have a license plate or valid placard displaying the Universal Symbol of Access but may need a temporary accommodation must contact the Office of Human Resouces (HR) before contacting Parking and Mass Transit Services.
Parking and Mass Transit Services cannot accept or review medical documentation. HR will review and provide a recommendation to Parking Services. In all scenarios, the University does not supply the blue/red accessible placards.
Motorcycle Options
Motorcycles must be registered with a valid University parking permit to park on campus.
You may register more than one vehicle (including one motorcycle and one car), but you cannot have more than one vehicle on campus at any given time.
Motorcycles can be parked in any area covered by your current parking permit, in any open or registered parking area during posted hours, and directly behind any light post, so long as it does not take up a space that could be used by a vehicle.
Parking Lot Designations
Parking lots on campus are designated based on user groups, including faculty and staff, commuter students, and resident students. Each group is assigned specific lots to ensure organized and efficient parking access.
Resident Student Lots & Commuter Student Parking Lots
For students, you must be parked in your designated lot, resident or commuter, weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and may park in any other faculty, staff, or student parking lot outside of those hours.
Please note parking is never authorized in University Vehicle, Reserved, Accessible, and Special Permit spaces unless proper credentials are provided and/or displayed. Visitor parking areas are also not authorized even with fee validation.
