Summer Housing 2021

You must fill out the Summer 2021 Housing Application to live on campus during summer sessions. The Application goes live April 1st and is due April 30th. Summer housing concludes August 13th at 6pm.

Summer 2021 Eligibility Requirements:

Students will be eligible to reside in Summer Housing if they meet one of the following criteria:

  • You MUST be enrolled in Summer Session courses to reside in University housing
  • Student doing an in person academic internship in the Capital Region.
  • Student doing an in person academic research at the University.
  • Student sponsored by a University department for on-campus employment.
  • Student living on Empire Commons for fall 2021
  • This statement pertains to students whose permanent address on record:
    • is no longer a safe place for them to return
    • no longer exists due to changes in one’s family housing status – homelessness
    • is now non-accessible to them due to change in guardianship status
    • is no longer welcoming to them because of their sexual orientation or gender identity
    • is not in the continental United States

Summer Housing Guidelines:

Students who are approved for Summer Housing must follow the summer housing guidelines:

  • Students must provide a sample for Surveillance Testing Program upon check in.
  • Students must agree to participate in the weekly University Surveillance Testing Program.
    • Failure to participate in Surveillance Testing Program for two consecutive weeks or two weeks in total during summer may result in being removed from University housing for the remainder of the summer.
    • Students must agree to isolate if determined to be presumptively positive for COVID-19 as a result of campus Surveillance Test and quarantine if a close contact of a COVID-19 positive person.
      • Students may quarantine or isolate at home or in campus housing as directed by the University, but if staying in University housing student will be charged $33 a day for food service and delivery.

Reassignment to Alternate Living Space:

Students approved for Summer Housing will be required to relocate to Empire Commons. You are expected to completely vacate your existing space and move your belongings to the new space. Also, you MUST return your keys to the office for your living area. Please contact your living area office regarding checking out. If you decline moving, you will be required to leave campus housing immediately and find alternate housing arrangements.

As stated in the Terms & Conditions of the University Residence Halls & Apartments License:

The University reserves the right to change room assignments for health, safety, repair services, vacancy consolidation, disciplinary sanctions, unresolved issues in compatibility of roommates, or other reasons at the discretion of the DRL (pg. 2).

Important Dates:

April 1st - Summer 2021 Housing Application goes live.
April 30th - All applications are due.
May (date TBD) - Approved applicants will be notified of check-in date and time.
August 13th - Summer Housing Concludes at 6pm.

Summer 2021 Room Rates:

Empire Commons: $250 per week
