Lesanne Grant and Edwin Rodriguez
Two BBL Construction Services Scholarship recipients, Lesanne Grant and Edwin Rodriguez share a little bit about their experience at UAlbany and plans for the future.
Why did you choose to attend UAlbany?
Lesanne: I heard about the amazing business school and I wanted a new experience.
Edwin: The location is great, the campus is beautiful, and the overall quality of the people around here is amazing.
What are you looking forward to most this year at UAlbany?
Lesanne: Meeting new people through new organizations and community service.
Edwin: The ability to not only take my education further, but to also work towards leaving my comfort zone and becoming a more open person in any way I can find.
Tell us about your most memorable professor or classroom experience at UAlbany. Why is it memorable?
Lesanne: My most memorable class is BACC 311. Everyone always told me it was a very difficult class but I worked hard and aced it.
Edwin: I'd say my most memorable professor would have to be Professor Haiyang Su. His kindness and the effort he put forth towards understanding his students is something I admire greatly. He has a great sense of humor and even on the worst days he is able to bring his students attention to the topic at hand.
Are you involved in any campus organizations, activities or sports? Please describe.
Lesanne: I’m involved in the tango club, pan-Caribbean organization and women excelling in business.
Edwin: I'm currently involved in the club ultimate frisbee team known as SCAM. We practice 2-3 times a week and play in tournaments that vary in different parts of New York. We hope to shoot for regionals, or even a place in nationals.
What is your favorite place on campus? Why is it your favorite?
Lesanne: The fountains because I love the water and the colors.
Edwin: I'd say my favorite place on campus is the different dorms and living areas because of the time I get to spend with my friends.
What are your plans after graduation (work, graduate school, dream job, etc.)?
Lesanne: I will be a financial service accountant at EY.
Edwin: I plan on either finding a full time job in order to build the foundation for school in the years to come, or doing school part time for my graduate degree while working part time as well.
