For Andrew Hur, a sophomore studying public policy at Rockefeller College of Policy & Public Affairs, enrolling at the University at Albany was a logical choice. “The school’s location in the state capital of New York” was attractive, the Queens native notes. So was the opportunity to fulfill his academic requirements while taking classes not directly related to his major, such as Introduction to Digital Forensics, his favorite course so far. In addition, Hur has already completed two internships: one with Change Food, an organization that seeks, according to its website, “to provide healthy, safe, delicious, fair food for all,” and the other with the NYPD. The internships, combined with his classroom studies, will prepare Hur well for his chosen career in public service. After graduation, the ROTC program participant notes, “I want to serve my country first, then probably go into the state Legislature” – not as an elected official but “to help people make laws.” Hur appreciates the Louis S. Weiner Scholarship he has received: “I’m from a low-income household, and it helps a lot.”
