About

Corey is a second-year student in the Counseling Psychology doctoral program at UAlbany. His research focuses on improving the accessibility and effectiveness of psychological treatments for addiction and understanding risk/protective factors for addiction.

During his post-baccalaureate, Corey helped implement and evaluate a program providing free cognitive-behavioral addiction services to underserved individuals and an integrative group treatment for military veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and addiction.

As a graduate student, Corey has assisted with delivering and assessing a program funded by Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration that provides prevention navigator services to minoritized undergraduates to reduce risky substance use and sexual behavior.

Corey’s other research explores how effective, motivational processes influence risky drinking and is currently developing a study to assess whether feeling ashamed or guilty about drinking differentially affects drinking to cope and alcohol problems.

Corey’s free time is spent hanging out with his wife and their two small dogs, reading, running, or playing guitar.
