About

Alyssa is a fourth-year student in the Counseling Psychology doctoral program at UAlbany. She earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology and master’s degree in mental health counseling from the University of Rochester.  

Their research interests include the experience of discrimination within the LGBTQ+ community, as well as the impact of intersecting identities and related experiences on psychological outcomes. Alyssa’s clinical interests include suicide prevention and crisis intervention within the LGBTQ+ community as well as college student mental health. 

Outside of school and work, Alyssa enjoys playing field hockey and rugby, playing guitar, and spending time with her partner and their dog, Aria. Alyssa also volunteers with Girls Rock! Rochester, using music to foster a sense of community, self-confidence and empowerment among girls and LGBTQ+ youth.
