Nobel Laureate Claudia Goldin to Deliver the 2026 Pong S. Lee Memorial Lecture

The Department of Economics is pleased to announce that Claudia Goldin, the 2023 Nobel Laureate in Economic Sciences and the Henry Lee Professor of Economics at Harvard University, will deliver the 2026 Pong S. Lee Memorial Lecture. The lecture is scheduled for October 2026, with the exact date to be announced.

Goldin is one of the world’s leading scholars in labor economics and economic history. Her pioneering research has fundamentally shaped our understanding of the gender wage gap, women’s labor-force participation, human capital investment, and the long-run evolution of labor markets. She has authored numerous influential books and articles, including Understanding the Gender Gap and Career & Family, and has served in prominent leadership roles such as Director of the NBER’s Development of the American Economy Program for nearly three decades.

The Pong S. Lee Memorial Lecture series was inaugurated to honor the legacy of Professor Pong S. Lee and to bring distinguished economists to our campus. Recent speakers include David Card (2025), Janet Currie (2024), and David Autor (2023).

Further details about Professor Goldin’s visit, including the confirmed lecture date and event logistics, will be announced as they become available.
