David Autor to Deliver Inaugural Pong Lee Memorial Lecture

David Autor smiles in a white shirt and tie while seated in front of a winder. Through the window are buildings, trees, a body of water.

We are pleased to announce that the inaugural Pong S. Lee Memorial Lecture will be held on September 8, 2023. The distinguished speaker for this event will be David Autor, Ford Professor of Economics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Professor Autor is internationally recognized as a leading scholar in the fields of labor economics, public economics, and political economics. His groundbreaking research delves into the profound implications of technological advancements and globalization on the labor market. Specifically, his work focuses on exploring the effects of these transformative forces on job polarization, skill demands, earnings levels, and inequality.

The Pong S. Lee Memorial Lecture series has been established to pay tribute to the memory and remarkable contributions of Professor Pong S. Lee. During his tenure as the department chair in the 1970s, Professor Lee played a pivotal role in shaping our department and establishing our Ph.D. program. This lecture series has been made possible through the generous donation of Dr. Seung Park, a former student of Professor Lee. The event is open to the public.
