Three Doctoral Students Receive Funding from Center for Aging and Policy Studies

Quan Qi, Min Jang and Xue Wu

Economics doctoral students Quan Qi, Min Jang and Xue Wu are each receiving $1,500 from the Center for Aging and Policy Studies (CAPS) to attend the 2022 American Society of Health Economists conference held in Austin, Texas in June 2022.

Min Jang will present his research with Professor Pinka Chatterji, titled "Does Medicare Part D Reduce Disparities in Health?" They examine whether a prescription drug benefit program can reduce education-related disparities in outcomes related to chronic disease. They find that Part D increases drug insurance rates and drug utilization, and decreases out-of-pocket spending. These improvements are magnified among low-educated individuals.
