ECO 380 (8320) Title: Economic Impact of Government Revenue Systems

Public Finance economists examine the effect of government taxation and spending on individuals in the economy.

This semester, ECO 380 will focus primarily on revenue generation of governments (that is, taxation), though some discussion of the impact of government expenditures and debt will be included to provide context.

In ECO 380, we have two main objectives:

  1. to learn general principles about how government taxes work, and

  2. to apply those general principles to the sorts of specific questions/problems that policy makers face on a daily basis.
