High school students from across the Capital Region gathered at UAlbany last month for the launch of a new Engineering Academy, an initiative of the GE Aerospace Foundation's Next Engineers program designed to inspire students worldwide to pursue careers in engineering.
The changes arose from feedback from students, faculty and industry and are designed to prime graduates for successful careers in both industry and academia.
UAlbany PhD student Md. Reazul Islam developed an app that uses artificial intelligence and a network of smart devices to monitor, predict and map pollution levels, alerting users in real time to areas with hazardous air quality that could damage their health and suggesting alternate routes.
As dean of CNSE, Michele Grimm oversees more than 1,270 students and 75 faculty members who conduct research supported by $15 million in annual spending.
