Shanon R. Harmon

Faculty Expertise and Achievement

Dr. Shanon R. Harmon is an Adjunct Faculty member at the Massry School of Business. He is currently an Operational Excellence Senior Advisor at Southern California Edison, a certified professional coach through the International Coaching Federation (ICF), and a member of several honor societies, including Edward A. Bouchet, Alpha Epsilon Lambda, Psi Chi, Pi Gamma Mu, Omicron Delta Kappa, and Beta Beta Beta. He was recognized as Adjunct of the Year in 2023 at The Chicago School, where he is a Senior Adjunct Professor in the PhD in Business Psychology, PhD in Organizational Leadership, and MA in Industrial and Organizational Psychology programs. He has a PhD in Business Psychology and MA in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from The Chicago School, MA in Clinical Psychology from PennWest Edinboro (previously Edinboro University of Pennsylvania), and BA in both Biology and Psychology from Elmira College.
Dr. Harmon has over 15 years of experience in advancing organizational capabilities and performance across various sectors and industries, mostly in the energy industry. He has experience in business transformation, organizational development, organizational change management, organizational effectiveness, leadership and team effectiveness, strategic project management, organizational and strategic planning, organizational culture transformation, training design and facilitation, competency modeling, high potential selection and program development, talent and succession planning, performance management, 360 feedback, talent and assessment strategy, career planning, professional coaching, executive selection, test design & validation, and talent and people analytics. He has held other positions, such as Business Readiness Senior Advisor, Organizational Development Consultant, Selection & Assessment Consultant, and a Clinical Therapist. 

Research Interests

Dr. Harmon’s research interests span a wide range of topics related to psychology, business, and society. He has conducted research on leadership, psychological safety, and occupational safety; memory and cognition; genetic diversity and ecology. His other research interests include psychological safety and organizational culture, personality and assessments, coaching and career development, inclusion and diversity, environmental culture and sustainability, and creativity and innovation. He is a dissertation chair and committee member for student research and presents at Society of Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP) and Society of Consulting Psychology.
