The latest on University at Albany faculty and staff receiving research grants, awards and other noteworthy attention.

El-Ra Radney joined the University at Albany’s Africana Studies department this fall following decades of interest, study and scholarship in the field, citing its dynamic course offerings and distinction on the national stage as one of few colleges or universities with a master’s program in the field.

On Friday, October 21, 2022, the Department of Africana Studies held its annual Research Symposium. The Symposium took place in the in the Campus Center Boardroom, Room 192. The central event of the research symposium was the faculty panel, held from 9:30 AM until noon.

LACS is delighted to announce the Latin American, Caribbean, Latina/o Knowledge Production Support project, which will offer dissertation writing stipends to three advanced PhD candidates. The project will make possible a variety of departmental programming during the 2022-2023 academic year.

On Thursday, April 21, 2022, from 6 to 8 PM, the Department of Africana Studies is hosting a Remembrance Ceremony for Dr. Oscar R. Williams, III. The ceremony will be held in the Campus Center Ballroom of the University at Albany, and will feature musical performances, alumni/university speakers, student dance/step performances, poetry, and tributes from family and friends.
