The University at Albany’s Rockefeller College of Public Affairs & Policy and the School of Criminal Justice have once again been recognized among the nation’s top graduate programs. Announced by U.S. News & World Report, Rockefeller is ranked 25th overall for best graduate program in public affairs and 5th nationally for best doctoral program in criminal justice.

“In the wake of the assault on democracy that occurred at our nation’s Capitol building on Wednesday, our response to another terrorist event – the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks – provides guidance on how we should respond moving forward,” states Public Service Professor James Steiner in his op-ed article published in Homeland Security Today.

Strategically restructuring and uniting two of its nationally ranked academic units, the University at Albany, SUNY announced that the School of Criminal Justice will join the Rockefeller College of Public Affairs & Policy effective June 1, 2020.

His longtime colleagues in the School of Criminal Justice remember him as a remarkable scholar, teacher, mentor, and person, whose voice is deeply needed in today's crucial discussions on police reform.

William Alex Pridemore, dean of the University at Albany’s School of Criminal Justice, has been named a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), the world’s largest general scientific society and publisher of the journal Science.
