Mellon Foundation's New Directions Fellowship program, humanities and humanistic sciences
First deadline is 11/10/25. Support for tenured faculty in the humanities and humanistic social sciences who seek formal training in a discipline outside their current area of expertise. The fellowship is designed to enable sustained, interdisciplinary research by funding up to two years of study, including tuition, salary support (academic year and summer), and related expenses. This is a limited submission opportunity, and UAlbany may nominate only one candidate.
Chan Zuckerberg Biohub Network and CZI
Deadline is 11/13/25. To develop new ideas in immune cell engineering to "enable precise control over immune responses, disease detection, and therapeutic delivery." Areas of interest include engineering immune cells with enhanced sensing and effector functions, designing synthetic bio-circuits to regulate immune cell behavior, and constructing artificial immune systems for disease modeling and screening. The initiative is particularly focused on projects that could transform how we detect and treat diseases like cancer, neurodegeneration, and fibrosis by teaching immune cells to help find sicknesses and provide proper treatment.
