About
Dr. Yuksel Celik is an applied AI researcher, IEEE Senior Member, and adjunct educator with expertise spanning artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and medical imaging. He currently serves as a Visiting Research Scholar in the Information Security and Digital Forensics program at the University at Albany, SUNY, where his work focuses on translating advanced machine learning research into practice-oriented educational and applied outcomes.
Dr. Celik has led and developed end-to-end AI systems across clinical diagnostics, video analytics and multimodal intelligence. His research contributions include deep learning–based diagnostic pipelines for otitis media, skin cancer and diabetic retinopathy; hybrid optimization-driven feature extraction frameworks that improve accuracy while reducing computational cost; and robust video analysis systems for deepfake detection and human behavior recognition for autonomous cars. His work emphasizes explainable, efficient and deployable AI solutions suitable for real-world environments.
With an extensive publication record in SCI-indexed and international peer-reviewed journals, Dr. Celik previously served as an Associate Professor of Computer Engineering in Turkey and has served as Principal Investigator and Co-Principal Investigator on multiple nationally and internationally funded projects supported by the European Union, TÜBİTAK and regional development agencies. He brings significant experience in graduate supervision, interdisciplinary research and academic leadership, integrating research-driven insights directly into his teaching.
