To meet current needs in the region, the Center for Autism and Related Disabilities is offering a grant-funded education program for parents who live in the Capital District or a surrounding county and have a child (12 months to 8 years) recently diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder.
The program is available at no cost and aims to give parents information and resources on topics specific to autism in a timely manner. The program is funded by a grant from the New York State Office for People with Developmental Disabilities and consists of five 2-hour group sessions over ten weeks covering topics such as:
- Introduction to Autism
- Evidence-Based Treatments and Interventions
- Understanding Challenging Behaviors
- Resources in our Community
- Taking Care of Yourself and Your Loved Ones
